As the movement to end violence against women continues to evolve, there is increased recognition that developing primary prevention strategies is an essential component of the work. At the same time, many experts agree that it is imperative to involve men and boys in these efforts, if we expect them to succeed. Our Engaging Men project is a partnership between North Idaho Violence Prevention Center and the Idaho State Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence.
The Engaging Men project creates a unique opportunity that create public education campaigns and community organizing to encourage men and boys to work as allies with women and girls to prevent sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking.
This project focuses primarily on the prevention of violence against women and girls and acknowledges the critical roles men play in this prevention. The project will promote multi-faceted strategies that involve men as allies, active positive bystanders and influencers of other men and boys.
The project aims to develop new male leaders in the field, willing to publicly speak and actively oppose violence against women and girls and create a ripple effect, encouraging men in many more states and communities to get involved.
Please join us for this exciting meet-n-greet of men in our community ready to end violence against women and children.
