Know the warning signs!
If you are being abused, you might...
- Believe it’s your fault.Feel angry, sad, lonely, or confused.Feel helpless to stop the abuse.Feel threatened, humiliated, or ashamed.
- Worry about what might happen next.
- Feel like you can’t talk to family or friends.
- Be afraid of getting hurt.
- Feel protective of the abuser.
- Feel bad about yourself because the abuser says you are stupid, lazy, ugly, worthless, helpless or crazy.

Know what to do!
Trust your instincts. If you feel unsafe, you probably are. Don’t wait; talk to someone you trust immediately, a parent or the parent of a friend, an older sibling, a teacher, school counselor, or school nurse, your doctor or faith-based leader. Talk with someone who can support you and help you decide what to do to protect yourself. It’s not your fault; it’s the abuser’s problem. If you are in immediate danger, call 911.

- Victims of stalking are encouraged to keep a log of all stalking behaviors including emails, text & phone messages.
- It is important to consider how to victims may be harmed by stalkers’ use of technology.
- The majority of stalking victims report losing time from work as well as income because of the stalking.

| The Women's Center is now North Idaho Violence Prevention Center (NIVPC) - Tuesday, January 03, 2012The Women’s Center was founded in North Idaho 35 years ago to assist victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Over time this non-profit agency broadened programs and services to assist all victims of family violence. To better reflect this reach, the agency adopted a new name – “North Idaho Violence Prevention Center” (NIVPC).
We have a new name, but the mission is the same. "Providing safety, education and empowerment to victims of violence and the community". |
| 2011 Adopt-A-Family - Wednesday, December 21, 2011
Thank you to all the generous donors who have helped make our Adopt-A-Family program such a success! Can you believe we have over a 100 donors for the 82 families – what an amazing community!! We also were able to give either food or food card to every family.
In addition, we received a new refrigerator for shelter, 4 mattress for children who were sleeping on the floor, a car window repaired, and a bus ticket for relocation. |
